Hi everyone,
About a year ago, I was asked to write an entry for the fast growing, online and open access Cambridge Encyclopedia of Anthropology. The topic of the entry would be, of course, autism.
It’s been a real challenge, trying to condense 20 years of academic literature into a 5000 word text, in a way that would be both interesting and accessible to a wide readership, but I ended up quite liking the final result. In addition to the encyclopedia’s main goal, which is to present a succinct summary how various concepts were explained and elaborated by anthropologists, I decided my entry on autism would pursue yet another goal of offering a broad bibliography of writings about autism from the social sciences, obviously with an emphasis on anthropology.
So the entry is now online, and I would be grateful to hear your thoughts.
